The Challenge by La Vuelta (Sponsor: Ceratizit) is a women’s road race that was first held in 2015. Initially, the competition took place before the final stage of the men’s Vuelta a España as a circuit race on a course in Madrid in mid-September, with a course length of 87 kilometres. Already in 2018, the race was extended to two stages. Meanwhile, the Challenge by La Vuelta is a small circuit race in Spain over four stages.
The 2021 edition of the Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta took place from 2 to 5 September 2021 in the Galicia region of north-western Spain. It was part of the 2021 UCI Women’s World Tour and the winner was Annemiek van Vleuten from the Netherlands of Team Moviestar, ahead of Marlen Reusser from Switzerland of Team Alé BTC Ljubljana and Elise Chabbey also from Switzerland of Team Canyon-SRAM.
