The traditional cycling race the International Thuringia Tour of Women takes place annually in eastern Thuringia. Since 2017 officially LOTTO Thuringia Ladies Tour. The Stage locations include the towns of Zeulenroda-Triebes, Schleiz, Greiz, Gera and Schmölln, as well as Dörtendorf. The Tour is classified in the highest UCI category and is the only professional stage race for women in Germany. In 2020, the race was cancelled due to the Corona pandemic. In 2021, the LOTTO Thuringia Ladies Tour was held at the end of May. Six stages were held between May 25 and May 30:
1st stage around Schmölln: The winner of the 88.9-kilometer stage was Emma NORSGAARD Emma of Team Movistar Team Women ahead of Lucinda BRAND of Team Trek and Lotte KOPECKY Lotte of National Team Belgium.
2nd stage around Gera: The winner of the 125.1 km stage was Lorena WIEBES from Team DSM ahead of Emma NORSGAARD from Team Movistar Team and Christine MAJERUS Christine from Team SD Worx.
3rd stage around Schleiz: The winner of the 116,5 km stage was Lucinda BRAND from Team Trek ahead of Emma NORSGAARD Emma from Team Movistar Team Women and Lotte KOPECKY Lotte from National Team Belgium.
Stage 4 Around Dörtendorf: The fourth stage of the 33rd LOTTO Thüringen Ladies Tour was won by Belgian champion Lotte Kopecky of the Belgian national team. Second was Lucinda Brand (Trek Segafredo), who also managed to capture the yellow LOTTO Thüringen Leaders jersey. Liane Lippert (Team DSM) finished third.
5th stage around Weimar: Lucinda Brand of Team Trag-Segafredo managed to win the difficult fifth stage around Weimar in a solo effort. The Dutchwoman was able to leave Lorena Wiebes (Team DSM) and Emma Norsgaard (Movistar Women Team) behind.
Stage 6 Around Gotha: The last of six stages went to Lorena Wiebes (Team DSM) ahead of Belgian Lotte Kopecky (National Team Belgium), who secured the sprinter’s jersey in the overall classification. Third place went to Emilia Fahlin of Team FDJ Nouvelle-Aquitaine Futuroscope. The winner of this year’s once again impressive LOTTO Thüringen Ladies Tour was Lucinda Brand of Team Trek-Segafredo although she finished sixth on the final stage.
