The Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta is a women’s road race that was first held in 2015. Initially, the competition took place before the final stage of the men’s Vuelta a España as a circuit race on a course in Madrid in mid-September, with a course length of 87 kilometres. Already in 2018, the race was extended to two stages. Meanwhile, the Challenge by La Vuelta is a small circuit race in Spain over five stages.
The 2022 edition of the Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta took place in northern Spain from 7-11 September 2021, finishing in Madrid on 11. September. It was part of the UCI Women’s World Tour 2022.

Team Time Trial
LONGO BORGHINI Elisa, BRAND Lucinda, BALSAMO Elisa, VAN ANROOIJ Shirin, DIDERIKSEN Amalie, BÄCKSTEDT Elynor Team Trek – Segafredo wins the team time trial over 19.9 kilometres at Marina de Cudeyo (North spain) of stage 1 Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta 2022 .
08. September 2022 – stage 2 Challenge by La Vuelta
The second stage from Challenge by La Vuelta over 105.9 kilometres around Colindres in the north of Spain was won by VAN VLEUTEN Annemiek from Movistar Team ahead of LONGO BORGHINI Elisa from Team Trek – Segafredo and LIPPERT Liane from Team DSM.
09. September 2022 – Stage 3 Challenge by La Vuelta
Camargo to Aguilar de Campoo
The third stage from Challenge by La Vuelta over 96.4 kilometres from Camargo to Aguilar de Campoo was won by BROWN Grace (FDJ – SUEZ – Futuroscope) ahead of CHABBEY Elise (Canyon//SRAM Racing) and BALSAMO Elisa (Trek – Segafredo).
10. September 2022 – Stage 4 Challenge by La Vuelta
The fourth stage from Challenge by La Vuelta over 160,4 kilometres from Palencia to Segovia was won by PERSICO Silvia (Valcar – Travel & Service) ahead of VOLLERING Demi (Team SD Worx) and LONGO BORGHINI Elisa (Trek – Segafredo).
11. September 2022 – stage 2 Challenge by La Vuelta
The fifth and final stage from Challenge by La Vuelta over 95,7 kilometres around Madrid was won by BALSAMO Elisa (Trek – Segafredo) ahead of KOPECKY Lotte (Team SD Worx) and BASTIANELLI Marta (UAE Team ADQ).
