The 2020 UEC Road European Championships will be held in Plouay. France (Brittany) from August 24 to 28. The individual time trial of the professional / elite men took place on August 24, 2020. The distance was 25.6 kilometers. There were 27 drivers at the start.
So shortly after the national championships and before the Tour de France, which starts next weekend, some of the pros had to take a break. Also some fall injuries of the last days. For example Remco Evenepoel or Maximilian Schachmann, who would certainly have been among the favorites, contributed to the manageable starting field. The favorites, however, were the Belgian Victor Campenaerts and the Swiss Stefan Küng. Justin Wolf and Juri Hollmann, two blatant outsiders for the BDR, started the race. The European Champion title was finally won by Stefan Küng. He distanced the Frenchman Remi Cavagna by 17 seconds and the Belgian Victor Campenaerts by 21 seconds.
