At the start of the ‘Six-Day Weekend’ in Berlin’s Velodrom in front of 5200 spectators, three-time European Champions Roger Kluge and Theo Reinhardt showed their skills by dominating the demanding 120-lap chase and taking the lead of the field. With 70 points, they lead the World Champions Yoeri Havik and Jan-Willem van Schip, who scored 68 points, and the surprising duo Hejnen/Moore with 38 points. Other teams, such as the German champions Malcharek/Augenstein, are still within reach.
In the sprint race, the Olympic champion Roy van den Berg of the Netherlands is in the lead with 42 points, closely followed by Mateusz Rudyk and local hero Robert Förstemann. Daniel Harnisch and his pacemaker Gerd Gessler won the stayer race.
