Photos and images from the third stage of the Tour de Suisse 2024 on 11 June 2024. The third stage started in Steinmaur and ended in Rüschlikon. The route led through hilly terrain from the north-west of the canton of Zurich via the canton of Aargau back to Lake Zurich. After a short loop, five riders broke away from the peloton, including Luca Jenni and Christoph Janssen.
The route led through Niederweningen, Surbtal, Döttingen, Riniken, Schinznach-Bad, Scherz, Lenzburg, Villmergen and to Lake Hallwil. After Lake Baldeggersee, the route headed northwards and from Muri eastwards. Roberto Carlos González won the only intermediate sprint and the first mountain classification in the 3rd category.
The riders passed Affoltern am Albis and climbed the Albis Pass with two 3rd category mountain classifications. Jake Stewart and Adam Yates were in the lead here. After a descent to Adliswil, the stage ended with a sprint on the Säumerstrasse in Rüschlikon. The winner was Thibau Nys (Belgium / Lidl-Trek) ahead of Stephen Williams (Great Britain / Israel-Premier Tech) and Alberto Bettiol (Italy / EF Education-EasyPost).
The Tour de Suisse 2024 marks the 87th edition of the Swiss stage race. The cycling race takes place from 9 to 16 June in eight stages and is part of the UCI WorldTour 2024. In 2024, the race overlaps with the Critérium du Dauphiné, which is also seen as an important preparatory race for the Tour de France.
