The final game took place on Sunday, 13 May 2024, in the Am Hallo sports hall in front of 2,247 enthusiastic spectators. Despite the game being scheduled at short notice, many fans turned up, which shows that basketball is gaining in importance in Essen.
The game began with a strong performance from the ETB Miners, who went on an 11:0 run in the first quarter and ended the quarter 25:12 ahead. Essen doubled its score to 50 by half-time, while Hagen also played well and the score was 50:40 at half-time. Scott, Hagen’s top scorer, scored 20 points alone.
In the second half, the Miners continued their strong performance and reached 75:62 after the third quarter. Hagen fought until the end, but could not break the dominance of the ETB Miners, who won the game 94:81 and thus secured their promotion.
